US weekly requests for jobless aid down 12,000 to 232,000

Fewer Americans applied for jobless aid last week, as the number of people seeking benefits remained close to historic lows


The Louisiana Board of Pardons has denied an attempt by convicted murderer James Burdgess to have his life sentence commuted. Burdgess is one of two men convicted in the 1979 murder of Pineville man, Guy Kimball.


Judge Bennett ruled that testimony from Megan Dixon will be allowed, but all other allegations that the state was trying to introduce have been denied.
