TROPICAL WEATHER SUMMARY-JUNE 11, 2014

The Tropics remain quiet today with no systems posing a threat. I do not see tropical storm development through the weekend.Looking farther ahead, the GFS model predicts tropical cyclone formation in the far western Caribbean in the 6-9 day time frame. However, the European model does not offer support. Thus, I will continue to monitor to see what the test of time reveals.Tom Konvicka More>>

    It is the 90th day of the 2014 Atlantic Basin hurricane season and there remain a few items of interest.Former Hurricane Cristobal is now a post-tropical system located about 300 miles east-southeast of Cape Race, Newfoundland. Movement is to the northeast at near 45 mph. The maximum sustained wind is near 75 mph.
