LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - Regional banker MidSouth Bancorp Inc. says it more than doubled its second-quarter profit with a decrease in a reserve for loan losses and an increase in service fees.
For the three months ending June 30, MidSouth earned $951,000, or 10 cents per share. That's up from $446,000, or 7 cents per share, for the second quarter of 2009.
MidSouth said it cut its reserve for loan losses by $600,000 and posted a $166,000 increase in noninterest income, which included letters of credit income, ATM and debit card charges and account service charges.
MidSouth has 35 offices in Louisiana and Texas.
