SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) - After a 73-year-old farmer's funeral Thursday, Caddo Parish deputies arrested his widow and accused her of paying $1,000 to have him killed.
Sheriff's spokeswoman Cindy Chadwick says 70-year-old Bobbie Loretta Luttrell of Keithville was arrested on a charge of first-degree murder and will be held without bond.
She says Bobbie Luttrell allegedly decided to have Ernest Luttrell killed because he changed his mind about giving a large amount of money to 1 of her relatives. She quotes detectives as saying Bobbie Luttrell planned to sell his property to get the cash.
Chadwick says she asked 44-year-old Tina VanMoerkerque (Van-more-KER-que), a family friend, to find a killer and offered $1,000.
VanMoerkerque and 26-year-old Erick Crain both are jailed on charges of first-degree murder.
