24th Annual Sugar Day

Event Dates and Times

11/11/2017 - Starts: 9:00 AM - Ends: 5:00 PM
Alexandria
Kent Plantation House is celebrating the history of sugar making at its 24th Annual Sugar Day Festival. Join us on Saturday, November 11, 2017, as we celebrate the days of old. The sugar cane harvest was a very special time in the nineteenth century. Families would gather and parties would be held after the harvest had been completed. Kent Plantation House strives to keep that tradition alive today with our 24th Annual Sugar Day Festival. Every year we fire up our reproduction 1840’s sugar mill, which takes three days to heat, and make sugar.

Vendors will be set up on the grounds of Kent Plantation House, selling old-fashioned arts and crafts. Lots of good Louisiana food will be on hand, and there will be plenty of entertainment. Children will have their own special activities throughout the day, including face painting and petting zoo! Tours of the House will be offered throughout the day.

Admission to the festival is $5.00 per person, children three and under are free. Gates open at 9:00 a.m. and the festival will end at 5:00 p.m. For more information, please call our office at (318) 487-5998 or visit our website at www.kenthouse.org.
