JONESBORO, La. (AP) - Authorities said that two Louisiana men conspired to get out of vehicle payments by torching a car.

News outlets report Anthony Burns, 37, and his uncle, David Caldwell, 33, were booked Monday into the Jackson Parish Detention Center. They were charged with arson with intent to defraud and criminal conspiracy.

Surveillance video showed Burns dropping off the vehicle and a man later splashing a liquid inside the passenger side. Video also showed the man, identified as Caldwell, setting the vehicle on fire.

In an interview, Caldwell confessed to the fire and said Burns asked him to "torch it" because he wanted out from under the vehicle payments.

A state Fire Marshal's Office release said Burns also acknowledged being behind on car payments. It's unclear if the men have lawyers.
