ALEXANDRIA, LA. (KALB) - Alexandria Country Day School students held a special ceremony Friday morning to honor our veterans.
Over 60 veterans were introduced to the audience and then escorted by their student to front row seats for the program.
After the Louisiana National Guard Youth posted the colors, students sang the national anthem.
A few grades presented songs they had been working on all week for the veterans.
Former airman and grandparent in the audience Charlie Bell who served in Vietnam said it is nice to be recognized.
"It means so much because when we came back home form Vietnam, it wasn't anything that was celebrated," Bell said. "We were kinda looked upon as a generation that didn't help make America what it is today. But, now everyone seems to appreciate and congratulate me every time they see me, and I really appreciate that."
ACDS holds the ceremony every year and invites all members and veterans of the community to join.
