After bribery trial, Ascension Parish president acquitted

GONZALES, La. (WAFB) - According to WAFB, Kenny Matassa, the President of Ascension Parish, was acquitted after a trial on Wednesday for bribery charges.

Reports say that he was accused of bribing Wayne Lawson, a Gonzales City Council candidate, in an attempt to have him withdraw from the 2016 race.

The attorney for Matassa made a motion to acquit at the trial.
