Ball Police captured escaped Pollock prison inmate

BALL, La. (KALB) - An inmate from the Federal Prison in Pollock is back in custody following an escape that happened Tuesday evening.

According to Ball Chief of Police Nathaniel Ussery, his department got a call to "be on the lookout" for the escapee sometime after 8 p.m.

Moments later, a call came in to Ball PD from the Chevron station that someone had attempted to take cigarettes, thought the suspect was gone when police arrived. Police were then called to a home a short distance away where the residents said the suspect was attempting to get into the home.

Ussery said that Ball's K-9 unit responded to the scene, and he arrived a short time later. They were able to take the suspect into custody and return him to the Federal Prison facility.

KALB attempted to reach a spokesperson for the Pollock Federal Prison, but we were told the public information officer would call us back at some point later.
