Suspect arrested for Friday carjacking at Circle K

PINEVILLE, La. (KALB) - The Pineville Police Department has arrested and charged an Alexandria man who they say was responsible for a Friday aggravated kidnapping and attempted armed robbery.

Around 5 p.m. on Friday, police received a report of a car accident in the 3000 block of Military Highway between a car and a Louisiana State Police unit.

The two victims in the car told police that they were in the parking lot of the Circle K when a man got into the back seat and brandished a gun.

The suspect told the driver to drive down the road. The driver told police he swerved with the intention of getting the trooper's attention. But, they crashed.

The suspect fled on foot and was found a short while later in Taco Bell on Military Highway.

Quenton Whitby, 48, was charged with aggravated kidnapping and attempted armed robbery.
