Fantasy character favorites came to life at Creative Con in Alexandria

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - If you were in the Alexandria Mall on Saturday, you may have noticed many people dressed in different costumes. It was all part of the Rapides Parish Library’s Creative Con.

It’s an event the Library started four years ago to celebrate creativity and people’s favorite fandoms. Attendees dressed as their favorite fantasy characters, comic book heroes, and even painter Bob Ross.

Coordinators say the event has grown every year, and they are excited to continue to bring the creative atmosphere of people’s favorite fandoms down to a local level.

"There just wasn't an avenue for that here locally, and so to save people from having to go to Dallas or Houston, or New Orleans, we thought, let's host an event here,” said Coordinator, Susan Baker. “So it started off small four years ago, but I like to say now we've finally figured out what we're doing."

The event concluded with a costume contest.
