NEW ORLEANS, La. (AP) - A 17-year-old has pleaded guilty as an adult to the attempted murder of three undercover Louisiana state troopers in December 2015.

Orleans Parish District Attorney Leon Cannizzaro said Quincy Shaw pleaded guilty to three counts in exchange for a 25-year prison sentence. Conviction would have carried 10 to 50 years on each count.

Three co-defendants are awaiting trial.

A news release Wednesday said that the troopers were in an unmarked car and spotted a stolen pickup truck.

Cannizzaro said they called for uniformed officers to make a traffic stop, then followed the truck. Someone began shooting from the right rear seat.

Three bullets went through the windshield. One trooper was hit by shrapnel and others by broken glass.
