GRANT PARISH, La. (KALB) - Jena Choctaw Pines Casino celebrated its four-year anniversary with employees, tribal members and patrons on Monday.
Tribal Chief Cheryl Smith said 'thank you' to patrons, employees and the tribe that has worked so hard to make the casino a success. She said profits have already benefited the tribe immensely in areas like education and housing.
The casino has also served as an economic boost to Grant Parish and Central Louisiana as a whole.
As they celebrate four years, Smith looks forward to the future and has already secured funding to build a hotel onto the casino. She expects the nearly 80-room hotel to be finished toward the end of next year.
"We have over 200 acres here and these are just the first tiny steps that we're taking,” said Smith. “Gaming is the venue now so you need to add extra amenities."
