Man arrested after failing to fulfill home remodeling job and stealing tools

RAPIDES PARISH, La. (RPSO) - A man was arrested after failing to fulfill home remodeling obligations and stealing equipment from the victim.

On December 15, 2017, deputies responded to a report of a theft on Hickory Hill Road. The victim said Bell Home Improvements was hired to do some remodeling to the residence and but did not complete the work. Some of the materials and tools the victim purchased for the remodel had also gone missing.

Detectives searched local second-hand stores in the surrounding areas, and the tools were located. They were able to identify the person selling the tools as Jonathan Michael Bell, 30, of Boyce, the contractor the victim originally hired for the remodel job.

On December 19, 2017, an arrest warrant was issued for Bell’s arrest for two counts of theft < $750.

Bell was eventually located by Patrol Deputies, on March 7, 2018. He was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center on the active warrants.

Bell was later released on a $1000 bond.
