Man threatens adults, children with gun; pulls pants down in front of police

Curtis Marks (APD)

ALEXANDRIA, La. (APD) - An Alexandria man has been arrested after witnesses said he waved a gun at both adults and children and exposing his genitals to police officers.

On September 11, around 4:40 p.m., APD responded to the 2200 block of East Sycamore Drive, to a disturbance involving a weapon.

When police arrived, they encountered several witnesses who said the suspect, Curtis Marks, had a gun and had threatened everyone present.

According to statements given to officers, Marks had been in a verbal altercation with another male, who was present. Marks then allegedly left the area, but quickly returned with a gun, which he waved around and pointed at several people, including children. Several people told officers this was typical behavior of Marks, who threatens and harasses people in the area regularly.

While police were speaking to witnesses, Marks emerged from behind on of the houses in the area and approached the officers. While approaching, Marks dropped his pants and exposed his genitals and put his hands up. Officers gave several orders for Marks to pull his pants up, as several children were still around, and Marks eventually did, at which point he was taken into custody.

Curtis Marks, 24, of Alexandria, was charged with disturbing the peace, aggravated assault with a firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and obscenity. He was booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center.
