ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - Miss Magnificent pageants are designed for individuals with a disability. Founder and executive director of Miss Magnificent Pageants, Lillian Reeves, said the pageants give those with special needs the opportunity to show off their personalities and skills.
Participants get to enjoy being the center of attention as they show off their talents, and everyone walks away a winner. The goal of the pageant is to build confidence, self-esteem and communication skills.
Reeves, who participated in pageants during high school, founded the non-profit organization in 2013, and said the idea was inspired by her high-school “best buddy” who loved hearing about the competitions.
I just knew that she would love it,” said Reeves. “I wanted to make sure that no matter what, she was recognized and awarded for the confidence that it takes to go and compete in a pageant.”
Miss Magnificent pageants crown all of the contestants as princesses and choose one queen from each division. Reeves said every contestant leaves smiling.
