Mississippi man found with pot-laced candies; officials urge caution as Halloween approaches

GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - A man from Gulfport, Mississippi is in jail after nearly $15,000 worth of marijuana products were found by authorities, including 760 units of THC candies.

Other products included over a pound of marijuana, over 100 THC oil vape cartridges, and nearly 30 grams of 'shatter,' an extremely high THC solid form of marijuana.

Homer Russell Smith, 40, was arrested after a search warrant was received following a two-week investigation.

Five firearms were also seized, as well as over $11,000 in cash.

Smith was arrested for possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute and is being held at the Harrison County Jail on a $10,000 bond.

As Halloween approaches, officials urge caution with candies and treats, as they may be laced with drugs or toxins.
