VERNON PARISH, La. (KALB) - The Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested the mother of Willow Molina, the 2-year-old who was found dead in May 2016.
According to VPSO, Vanessa Renteria-Molina, 35, was charged with child desertion and possession of methamphetamine. She pleaded guilty to both charges.
On May 5, 2016, Renteria-Molina reported Willow missing. The remains of Willow's body were found in the woods in Beauregard Parish the next day.
But after an autopsy, it was found that her date of death was actually May 4; a day before she was reported missing.
Renteria-Molina was fined and sentenced to probation for the drug charge and received a deferred sentence for the child desertion charge.
Willow's former baby-sitter, Rodney Bailey, Jr., 35, was indicted in connection with her death last month. He faces charges of second-degree cruelty to a juvenile and obstruction of justice.
