Parents sue transitional living facility after son's death

PARSONS, W.Va. (AP) - The parents of a man who died of self-inflicted injuries at a Tucker County young adult transitional living facility have filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the facility.

The Charleston Gazette-Mail reported that Rick and Kathy Harris of Louisiana filed the lawsuit Friday, accusing the staff of Q&A Associates of making no efforts to prevent the death of 23-year-old Evan Harris.

The parents said the staff knew their son was exhibiting signs of crisis and were willfully attempting to isolate him from his parents.

Harris died of self-inflicted injuries at the facility in January. The state medical examiner ruled the death a suicide.

Q&A Associates spokeswoman Audrey Peavey says the business has no comment on the lawsuit's allegations.
