According to the prison's public information officer, Tanisha Hall, the inmate is Raphael Torres and he was in for a supervised release violation. News Channel 5 asked for a mug shot of Torres and we have been told that his photo was only released to local law enforcement and the U.S. Marshals.
Hall said that Torres was discovered missing around 6:30 p.m. from the minimum security facility at Pollock. She also says that local law enforcement and federal law enforcement were notified. But, according to information we received from the Ball Police Department, they weren't notified until sometime after 8 p.m.
We asked why the public was not directly notified by the prison about the escape. Hall said that the "public was notified through local law enforcement and escape flyers." And, "The inmate was quickly apprehended at the time the press release was being drafted, therefore, a press release was not issued." Ball police made the arrest after 8 p.m.
There is an internal investigation underway for how Torres managed to escape.
