ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - If you're on the market for a new gun, Thursday might be your night. The Grant Parish Sheriff's Office, with the help of Bonnette Auctions, is putting together the final preparations for a unique fundraiser.

The groups have joined forces to put on a seized gun auction with over 300 guns and even various types of ammunition to auction off.

Participants will have the chance to bid on guns that have been seized by the GPSO for decades. By bidding, the participants will be helping out the community as all of the proceeds from the fundraiser will go to the GPSO general fund.

"Why destroy those guns when they can turn around and put it in their general fund and buy things like even more guns, holsters, bulletproof vests," said auctioneer Barbara Bonnette. "There are all kinds of things they can buy with the money."

For auction goers, Bonnette said there's a type of gun for everyone.

The preview for the auction will begin Thursday morning at 8:30 A.M. at the Bonnette Auction building in Alexandria with the auction starting at 6 p.m.
