Crews in the Cherokee Village area of Alexandria are working to clean up damage from an apparent tornado which hit the neighborhood Sunday afternoon.

The KALB Storm Team 5 warned of the potential for severe weather, which developed Sunday afternoon. The NWS also issued a severe weather emergency in the late afternoon due to a radar signature indicating tornado warnings.

The damage in the Alexandria area could have been much worse. Extensive damage was done to the Valero Gas Station known as Smokers Paradise on highway 165. Also, crews in the Cherokee Village area are working to clean up downed trees, power lines and placing tarps over the roof damage sustained.

The video tour we took of the area shows the damage and clean-up efforts.
