VPSO searching for suspects in cemetery vandalism

VERNON PARISH, La. (KALB) - The Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office is asking for the public’s help in identifying the person or persons responsible for vandalizing graves in the Elizabeth Cemetery on Jackson Road on Highway 117.

Early Friday morning, a witness said he drove past the cemetery and saw two male subjects believed to be teenagers. The witness said the suspects fled the cemetery on foot before he could turn his vehicle around.

This incident caused significant damage to 20 graves, as well as the cemetery itself.

If any residents in the area observed anyone matching this description traveling on foot in the area, they are asked to call VPSO at 337-238-1311, Detective Jerry Twyman at 337-238-7248, or Crime Stoppers at 337-239-2233.

A reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the person or persons responsible for this damage.
