BATON ROUGE -- LSU's 2019 football recruiting class got a huge boost on Wednesday as Baton Rouge native and five-star cornerback prospect Derek Stingley Jr. announced that he will be a Tiger.
The announcement came via a video on Stingley Jr.'s twitter account on his 17th birthday.
"Once a tiger, always a tiger," he said in the video.
Stingley Jr. is rated by many recruiting services as the nation's top defensive back prospect and, according to Rivals.com, the best high school player in the country. A product of Dunham High School, Stingley Jr. had originally committed to Ed Orgeron and the Tigers as a sophomore, but later reopened his recruitment.
Listed at 6-foot-1 and 195 pounds, had scouts drooling at The Opening in Dallas, TX where he posted a 40 yard dash time of 4.30 seconds and a 42-inch vertical jump.
In the video Stingley Jr. implicated that he will not waver from his decision, tweeting "I'm all in! 100% committed!"
