MOREAUVILLE, La. (KALB) - When someone scores five touchdowns, they usually touch the ball more than seven touches on offense. In Week 9, Avoyelles running back Myron Robertson executed the Mustangs' game plan to help them pick up a 70-7 road win over Bolton and earn our Athlete of the Week.
"Without the coaches and the linemen I would've never gotten player of the week,” said Robertson. “Thanks to God."
Robertson was able to hit pay dirt and rack up the yardage on a number of misdirection plays against Bolton. The Mustangs' junior finished with some big numbers; six carries for 244 yards and four rushing touchdowns and he tacked on a 15-yard TD reception as Avoyelles got their third win of the season.
"We've got a really big line. It's hard to see, all of a sudden he'll pop out of the line and they're thinking the play goes the other way," explained Mustangs head coach Andy Boone.
"Our counters killed them the whole night,” added Robertson. “I broke and nobody could catch me."
"He's always giving 100 percent,” boasted Boone. “He's always fighting for extra yards. He does a good job for us."
The high school football regular season finale is Friday night as Myron Robertson and the Mustangs will try to earn a playoff spot hosting District 3-3A foe, Buckeye.
