TIOGA, La. (KALB) - Last week Tioga posted two, 30-plus point victories over district foes West Ouachita and Bastrop to improve to 6-0 in District 2-4A. The Indians were led by senior guard Jacques Clark who averaged 20 points in those games earning him our Athlete of the Week.
"It means everything to me," said Clark. "I've got to thank God, my teammates, my coaching staff. They helped me get this award."
Tioga took down West Ouachita 72-41 at home last week Tuesday as Clark contributed 17 points, 5 assists and 3 rebounds in the victory. Then on Friday the Indians beat up Bastrop on the road 74-40 with a 23 point, 5 assist and 5 rebound outing from JC.
"We had a good week as a team last week," added Clark. "Thank my teammates for getting me involved and making plays for each other."
Tioga head coach Lance Brasher says for the most part the team goes how Clark goes and his consistent leadership this season has the Indians in shape to get a good playoff seed at the end of the month.
"He's just a floor general," explained Brasher. "Makes sure guys are in the right spots and then when we need big plays he's able to make big shots or make the correct play to get us in the right spots or to get us going in the right direction."
The Indians dropped their first district game on Tuesday at Neville. Jacques Clark and company will look to get back to their district dominance Friday night when they welcome Franklin Parish to The Reservation.
