ALEXANDRIA The University Academy football team believes it can make some noise this upcoming season. After moving to the LHSAA from the MAIS prior to last season, 2017 will be the first year that the Lions will be eligible for district play and the playoffs.
With nine seniors and seven juniors making up more than half of the roster, head coach Blair Phillips likes the foundation of his team that will compete in district 3-1A and the division iV playoffs.
The Lions will take the field this Friday against Westminster Academy in the Opelousas Jamboree. They open the season the following week at Plain Dealing.
