Ft. Polk Soldier Killed

FORT POLK, La. - A 23-year-old soldier from Maine is dead after a training accident at Fort Polk. Officials say the victim was identified as Specialist William Charles Koelsch the Third. The accident happened Wednesday, but details weren’t immediately available. Koelsch was assigned to the HHQ, First Battalion, 509th Infantry (Airborne). This unit is the “opposing force” used in training for units preparing to deploy to Iraq or Afghanistan.
