BATON ROUGE- Today, Governor Bobby Jindal announced appointments to the Louisiana Recreational and Used Motor Vehicle Commission.
The Louisiana Recreational and Used Motor Vehicle Commission serves to license used motor vehicle dealers and investigate consumer complaints involving the sale of used motor vehicles.
According to statute, the commission is comprised of fourteen gubernatorial appointments that represent Louisiana’s recreational and used motor vehicle industry. Also, six members must be licensed used motor vehicle or recreational product dealers. One member is selected from each public service commission district. Additionally, one of the six members must be an RV dealer and one must be a utility trailer dealer. The appointments are subject to senate confirmation. Ron Duplessis will serve as the board’s chair.
Appointments to the Louisiana Recreational and Used Motor Vehicle Commission:
Steve E. Berry, of Pineville, is the owner of Ed Cheek Marine Inc. and is a former member of the National Association of Boat Manufacturers’ Board of Directors.
Kevin Calmes, of Denham Springs, has worked for Calmes Motorsports for more than twelve years. Calmes Motorsports is a licensed motorcycle, marine, used car, and ATV dealer.
Ron Duplessis, of Baton Rouge, is the owner of Duplessis Pontiac, Buick, GMC, Duplessis Cadillac and Duplessis Volvo, and is a former Baton Rouge Better Business Bureau Board member.
George Floyd, of Baton Rouge, is the owner of Floyd’s Autoplex Inc.
Clement F. Garon, of Alexandria, is the owner of C.F.’s Welding Service and Custom Built.
Jeff Hilliard, of Baton Rouge, has more than fifteen years of experience with Miller’s R.V.
Vanessa Joan Hudson, of Shreveport, is the president of the Automobile Recovery Bureau Inc. and the ARB Investigation Agency Inc.
Gayle Materne, of New Orleans, is the owner and general manager of The Transportation Revolution, a Triumph Motorcycle and Vespa dealership.
Mike McTurner, of West Monroe, is the president of Dealer’s Auto Auction, Inc. and is a license auctioneer in Louisiana, Mississippi and Florida.
Eugene Smith, of Arcadia, is serving as the mayor of Arcadia.
Henry Smith, of Boyce, has been the owner of Henry’s Auto Salvage since 1973.
Phillip S. Snyder, of Shreveport, is the owner of G&C Honda in Shreveport and G&C Honda of Hammond and is the former secretary and treasurer of the Manufacturing Managers’ Council.
Curtis O. Stewart, of Baton Rouge, is the owner and president of Crown Investment, Inc., and Crown Auto Sales.
E. Brandt Thiac, of Donaldsonville, is the owner of Scooterville of Louisiana, L.L.C.
