When the LSU-Alexandria athletic teams begin competition this year, they’ll go by the name of Generals. And so it’s fitting that the state’s top general will help the program build its athletic field.
Major General Bennett C. Landreneau of the Louisiana National Guard was on campus Monday morning to mark the start of a partnership between the guard and the school. The first thing the guard will do is help LSUA with its student-funded baseball and softball complex. 100-thousand cubic yards of dirt need to be moved, and the guard will help get that done.
More than 40 soldiers will help with the groundwork at the ball fields.
