His family has come with posters colored with magic markers, custom made T-shirts, and two sets of grandparents. You can feel the anticipation in this terminal...the building up of emotions. Kyle’s mother and his grandmother are already fighting back tears as Kyle’s plane from Atlanta is getting closer.
When Kyle arrives, of course, there’s a lot of hugging and handshaking. This is the first time Kyle has seen his mother and siblings since last January.
Kyle says, the first thing he wants to do, is go out to eat.
When asked, “What’s it like over there?” Kyle answered, “Dirty and Hot.”
Kyle sends his condolences to the family of Marty Thiels: The mailman who died in the downtown shootings.
When asked what he wants to do with his time, Kyle said he plans to spend his leave weekends deer hunting and catching up with his family.
