PSC Cuts Hurricane Surchage in Half for CLECO Customers; Saves $105 Million

BATON ROUGE, March 19, 2008—Charges on CLECO electric bills related to the utility’s recovery from Hurricanes Katrina and Rita would be cut in half immediately thanks to action by the Louisiana Public Service Commission.
Foster Campbell, commissioner for North Louisiana, said CLECO residential customers paying an average $4.98 monthly surcharge for storm recovery will see that reduced to $2.32 per month.
“The overall reduction in the cost of CLECO’s hurricane recovery is $105 million, which is a tremendous savings for this utility and its customers,” Campbell said. “We are pleased to provide these savings. ”
