Stumble It! DESTREHAN, La. (AP) - Saint Charles Parish Sheriff’s deputies
Tuesday have arrested Destrehan High School teacher and band
director Byron Toups.
The 39-year-old Toups was booked Tuesday with molestation of a
juvenile, indecent behavior with a juvenile and simple battery.
Deputies say the charges stemmed from an incident in which Toups
allegedly had sexual intercourse with a 16-year-old student at his
home.
In another incident, authorities say Toups allegedly tried to
kiss a 17-year-old student during a band camp at the school last
summer. The Sheriff’s Office described the teenager as
“unwilling.”
Toups is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday.
