Three Bolton High School students are receiving lots of recognition for producing post-Katrina and Rita documentaries.
Anna Yancey, Rachael DeWorth, and Margaux Jurgensen are all winners of a statewide contest that started out as a typical class assignment. The students were asked to put together a 2 to 3 minute film focusing on an individual who contributed to the rebuilding of New Orleans. To their surprise, teacher Dawayna Sanders entered the finished products into the “Virtue Foundation Digital Video Contest”. It’s a non-profit foundation that gave Bolton it’s first batch of laptops for their digital academy and the contest gave students the chance to showcase how they’re using the program. Winning never crossed their minds.
