A handicapped child was left behind at Chuck E. Cheese, off of MacArthur Drive, while on a school field trip.  The child has been identified as a male student of Leesville Junior High.

A Marksville woman, Carol Belt, was at the restaurant for the birthday celebration of one of her grandchildren.  She told News Channel 5 that it was her grandkids that found the young boy.  Belt said he had been there for at least four hours.  She said Chuck E. Cheese employees waited for someone to pick up the child and made sure that he was entertained with games, food, and tokens.

Vernon Parish Superintendent, Dr. Cindy Gillespie, said “It was an honest mistake, but a mistake that shouldn’t have happened.  An investigation is upcoming and appropriate action will be taken”.

Leesville Junior High School Principal, Roger Rolon, was unavailable for comment when the story aired, however, he later called News Channel 5 and said that it was an unfortunate incident.  He said the matter will be handled first thing Monday morning.

A police report has been filed with the Alexandria Police Department.
