NATCHITOCHES, La. (AP) - In her fourth year at Northwestern
State, Trina Frierson has been promoted to associate head coach of
the women’s basketball program.
Frierson’s promotion is effective June 1st.
Frierson, who will continue to serve as the team’s recruiting
coordinator, will be more involved with game day decisions and in
charge of student-athlete academics.
Frierson, of Vicksburg, Mississippi, played for Basketball Hall
of Fame coach Leon Barmore and current Oklahoma State coach Kurt
Budke while at Louisiana Tech from 1999-2004. The Lady Techsters
compiled a 114-14 record in her four seasons.
Following her collegiate career, she was a second-round WNBA
draft pick for the Seattle Storm, where she played two seasons and
helped her team to the 2004 WNBA championship.
