The investigation continues into the discovery of a burned body in Avoyelles Parish.

News Channel Five's, Brooke Buford, went to the crime scene for the latest on the discovery that has Avoyelles residents on edge.

"That's pretty dangerous," said Mark Bordelon, an area resident.  "I'm not used to hearing nothing like that around here."

According to investigators, the partially burned body of an unidentified male was found Monday by two neighbors on Beauboeuf Road off Highway 107, just outside of Marksville.

"4:30 yesterday afternoon, we received a call through the 911 center that a body was smoldering here on Beauboeuf Road," said Sheriff Doug Anderson of Avoyelles Parish.  "Deputies responded, secured the scene, detectives were called, crime scene investigation was done and we're in the process of identifying the body."

People in town we spoke with say they don't believe the victim was from the area, but the Sheriff says they haven't confirmed that yet.

A crime like this down a narrow, winding road in Avoyelles Parish isn't common.  And, until an ID is made on the body and suspects are named, it's going to remain big news around town.

"It did worry me and I'm still worried now, because you don't know if it could be somebody who attacked someone and set them on fire," said Nikki Hairford, another area resident.  "You don't know what's going on.  And, I do have two small children."

Officials are looking to have an ID from the coroner later this week and hope to fill in the gaps in the case soon after.
