UPDATE: Natchitoches Stabbing Suspect Sought

Police say the 28-year old is being transported back to Natchitoches where he will face attempted murder and aggravated burglary charges.

Original:

On 2/7/11 at 10:15 pm the Natchitoches Police Department received a call of a stabbing at 830 Fourth St.

When officer arrived at the scene, they located a white female age 25, Deanna Sykes, with multiple stab wounds to the head, neck, shoulder, and chest area.

She had been stabbed at least nine times. Officer learned quickly that Mrs. Sykes estranged husband, Wyntrell Sykes, black male age 28 had broken into the residence and attacked Mrs. Sykes.

Mr. Sykes fled through the back door as officers entered the front door. A foot pursuit ensued, but officers were unable to apprehend the suspect.

Mrs. Sykes was transported to Natchitoches Regional Medical Center in critical condition where she was treated and transported to an undisclosed hospital in the area.

Police detectives are looking for Mr. Sykes. He is a black male age 28 approximately 5'9" 160lbs medium complexion.

He is wanted for Attempted 1st degree murder and Aggravated Burglary.

He is considered armed and dangerous.
