UPDATE: Winn Parish Shooting Suspect in Custody

UPDATE:  According to Sheriff A.D. "Bodie" Little, the victim of Wednesday's mid-evening shooting in the Winn Parish community of St. Maurice, Rosa Mary Bush, age 50, of Campti died early Thursday morning.

Walter L. "Cody" Hampton Jr. has now been arrested for 2nd Degree Murder, and also arrested for Aggravated Assault With A Firearm, and Possession Of A Fire Arm by a convicted felon.

The investigation is ongoing and is a joint effort between the Winn Parish Sheriff's Office, Winn Parish District Attorney's Office, and the Winn Parish Corner's Office.


UPDATE: According to Sheriff A.D. "Bodie" Little Walter L. "Cody" Hampton Jr. turned himself in to authorities late Thursday night. 

Hampton was booked into the Winn Parish Jail at approximately 11:45 pm for attempted 2nd degree murder. 

The matter still remains under investigation and the victim is still listed in very critical condition.

The Winn Parish Sheriff's Office is currently investigation a mid-evening shooting incident in the St. Maurice Community. 

According to Sheriff A.D. "Bodie" Little, the sheriff's office received an emergency call of a woman that had been shot. 

Emergency personnel was immediately dispatched to the area. 

Upon deputies arrival, a 50-year-old female subject was found that had been shot several times. 

The victim was transported to an area hospital and listed in critical condition at the time of this new release. 

The shooting suspect is identified as Walter L. "Cody" Hampton Jr, b/m, age 41 of St. Maurice and fled on foot from the scene. 

The suspect has not been apprehended at this time and is considered ARMED & DANGEROUS. 

At this time, the investigation is ongoing.
