The Louisiana College men suffered a second straight road loss here Saturday, falling 94-65 to Texas Dallas, but the outcome of the game was secondary to the well-being of the Wildcats' longtime coach.
Gene Rushing, who has spent more than 30 years as member of the Louisiana College athletics family and the last 27 as head coach of the men's basketball team, was hospitalized early Saturday morning due to complications originating from a hernia.
Surgery was required but the procedure was a success and Rushing is resting comfortably at a Dallas-area hospital.
Louisiana College women's coach Jason Tinsley served as men's coach in Rushing's place on Saturday.
