The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention lists these suggestions to help reduce your risk of stroke:

--Follow a healthy diet that's low in saturated fats and cholesterol.
--Stick to a healthy body weight; lose weight if you're overweight.
--Get plenty of regular physical activity.
--Avoid smoking.
--Restrict alcohol consumption.
