There are flood warnings issued for most of our viewing area. To read an overview of these warnings, go to our website at kalb.com.
The parishes under a flood warning include: Rapides, Grant, Vernon, La Salle, Winn, Allen and Evangeline Parishes.
There is a HPR (High Pressure Ridge) over the area today, which is providing the clear skies and pleasant conditions. We will also see winds that will become gusty at times. There is another LPS (Low Pressure System) that is becoming more organized and currently over the Central Plains. As this system moves closer, we will see increasing cloud cover during the Late afternoon and evening hours. This afternoon will be pleasant with a few clouds and temps in the 60. There will be a moderate wind out of the South. Skies will become mostly cloudy tonight as rain chances increase in advance of the upcoming front.
Between Saturday's rain event and tonight's cold front, the atmosphere will have little to no time to rebuild its moisture content. This means that rain chances will not be high overnight. However, we can not rule out SOME shower activity or the possibility of a thunderstorm. So, expect mostly cloudy skies and a chance for some rain. Just less than half of us will see some of these showers, if any. Lows will range from the upper 40's to the lower 50's with a moderate to strong wind out of the SW becoming gusty at times.
In the wake of this front, expect clearing skies. However, we will not see temps drop as we normally do. Rather, we will see a warming trend begin. This warming trend will last through the Mid-week and bring us up to the mid to upper 70's by Thursday, in advance of a secondary cold front. This secondary front will bring with it, increasing clouds and rising rain chances.
