This morning there have been scattered showers, a few thunderstorms
and some light drizzle associated with mostly cloudy to overcast
skies. There is a remnant cold front stretched (North to South)
through the state. This front will meander over Louisiana during the
next day or so. During this time we will continue to see a lot of
cloud cover, coupled with a chance for rain. As this remnant front, or
Trough, begins to fizzle out we will see rain chances begin to
decrease. There will not be any large scale feature that will drive
the weather during the rest of the work week. As we set into a pattern
of zonal flow, a ridge of high pressure will build in and we will see
warm temperatures and humid conditions become the theme. The average
high temperature for this time of the year is in the lower 70's. This
week, high temperatures will remain near 10 degrees higher than normal
and southerly winds will be predominant.
Models are suggesting that this trough will be the main weather
feature for our area today and tomorrow. So, there could be some
clearing throughout the midday hours today and into the afternoon.
However, cloud cover will return overnight. This warm and moist air
mass over the area will assist in keeping conditions warm and muggy
throughout the 7day planner.
After this trough fizzles out on Tuesday, we will see skies begin to
clear out, becoming partly cloudy or partly sunny for the remainder of
the week. The next front to push through the area will be this
TODAY...Patchy fog is possible in the early morning hours, mostly
cloudy skies and muggy conditions. Some clearing is expected
throughout the midday and afternoon hours. A remnant (30%) chance for
rain and scattered thunderstorms continues throughout the day. Highs
77-83. Expect mostly cloudy skies with winds from the SW 6-12mph.
MONDAY NIGHT...A slight (20%) chance for rain continues into the
evening as clouds fill back in becoming mostly cloudy. Lows 58-64.
South wind 2-8mph, becoming Light and Variable.
