Throughout
the overnight hours and early this morning an MCS moved through the
area. This was the same system that brought a tornado outbreak to the
DFW (Dallas/Fort Worth) area. The important thing for us was that it
moved through our area before sunrise. This is good because the
surface was not as warm or humid as it is during the day. If the
system had moved through the area during the late afternoon, the
warmer atmosphere and surface would have caused more uplift. This
would have brought higher risks for severe weather than we saw
overnight.
The front was around the DFW area as of 11am. Until it
clears Cenla, we will see continued cloudy skies, fair rain chances
during the afternoon today and a variable, light to moderate wind.
Model guidance is suggesting the front will clear our viewing
area this evening and over night tonight. So, there will be a chance
for rain throughout the remainder of the day and into the early AM
hours. Associated with this front, we can expect the typical wind
shift, decreasing cloud cover after the front and lower humidity
values in the wake of the front. The next several days will be
slightly cooler and less humid as a HPR (High Pressure Ridge), that
is centered over the Great Lakes, builds in and anchors its self over
the region. The next chance for rain on our 7day planner will be Mon
and Tue of next week as another cold front moves through the area.
TODAY...Mostly
cloudy with a likely chance (60%) for continued shower and
thunderstorms activity associated with a cold front. Severe storms
remain possible. Highs 81-87. Variable wind, becoming SW 10-22 mph
late in the afternoon.
WEDNESDAY
NIGHT...Mostly
to partly cloudy skies with a slight chance (30%) for showers and
thunderstorms. Lows 57-63. Light & Variable wind.
