Mother Charged With Cruelty To Baby

ALEXANDRIA, La. - A mother is in jail, after being charged with cruelty to a juvenile.

Rapides Parish detectives say that Tracey Vanantwerpen of Pineville showed up at the emergency room with her 2-year-old daughter who was scalded on the lower half of her body.

Medical staff called officers after they discovered the child had first and second degree burns.

Detectives say the child was put in bathwater that was too hot.

Vanan-Twerpen was charged with second degree cruelty to a juvenile and is in jail on a $100, 00 bond.

The child was taken to the burn center in Shreveport.
