BATON ROUGE, La. - Residents living near the Air Liquide specialty chemical plant in Port Allen have gone to court seeking damages after last month's chemical fire.
The Advocate newspaper reports a lawsuit filed May 23 in state court by a Baton Rouge law firm claims Air Liquide conducted negligent operations leading to the fire.
It says that they forced residents out of their homes for two days. They claim that their livelihoods were affected by it.
The law firm claims it is representing more than 100 evacuees.
