ALEXANDRIA, La. - A mistrial for two men charged with attempted murder and armed robbery has been declared before the actual trial even began.
Willle Jones of Alexandria and Corey Green of Baton Rouge are charged with allegedly shooting a man on Lenoard Street in the neck, which left the victim paralyzed.
Their trial has been reset for October 15.
A third man – DAnthony Smith, also of Alexandria, pleaded guilty on Wednesday to the lesser charge of accessory after the fact. He was sentenced to five years in prison.
The defense asked for a mistrial because of new evidence that was recently discovered.
Twelve jurors have been selected, but have not been sworn in.
