Indian Creek Triathlon

Posted: Updated:

It was an early morning wake up call for about 150 triathletes from across the state. They all gathered at Indian Creek in Woodworth for the 12th annual triathlon.

The competition includes a half mile swim, a 20 mile bike ride and a 5k run.

Participants can compete individually or as part of a team.

First, second and third place prizes are awarded to the best overall men and women winners, as well as the best in age group awards.

For many, competing in the race tops off a year of training for it.

"You have triathletes that compete all over the state, all over the region," said Lisa Harris with the YMCA. "And, they look forward to coming to Indian Creek every year. The state has the perfect, perfect setting here at Indian Creek. They created a very good environment. The roads are well. The swimming is great. These triathletes come together every year and look for this particular event to happen."

Next year's race will take place the second Sunday in June.
