ALEXANDRIA, La. - In Cameron Parish, a state coastal restoration organization is asking for help to install a sand fence along a two-mile stretch of coastline.
The coalition to restore coastal Louisiana says the project will run Thursday through Saturday.
The group is aiming to recruit 75 volunteers.
They will be installing 9,000 feet of sand fence and wooden slabs connected with wire that will catch sand to create dunes.
The project is being funded by nearly $70,000 in grants.
