Rapides Receives ‘A' For Safety

Posted: Updated:

ALEXANDRIA, La. – Rapides Regional Medical has received an "A" Hospital Safety ScoreSM by The Leapfrog Group, an independent national non-profit run by employers and other large purchasers of health benefits.

"This score confirms what I've known all along," said Rapides Regional CEO David Williams. "It should also give our patient peace of mind, knowing that they are receiving top-notch, grade-A medical care.

The Hospital Safety ScoreSM was calculated under the guidance of The Leapfrog Group's Blue Ribbon Expert Panel using publicly available data on patient injuries, medical and medication errors and infections. U.S. hospitals were assigned an A, B, C, D or F for their safety.

"This score is also a compliment to the almost 2,000 staff members, physicians and volunteers who work at Rapides."

The results were released in early June.
